The Exhibition is truly a big feast of international education rendered by Guangzhou authorities, which is reputed as the market forecast of overseas studies in the year of 2009 for the two cities Guangzhou and Nanning.

Mr. Luofen, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Personnel Bureau, presented on the scene, showing great support to the Exhibition from the Administration. Ms. Li Yilin, Director of the Service Centre, was being interviewed by GDTV.

In order to cultivate internationalized talents urgently needed by the country, fuel the economic and social development of Guangzhou and encourage local students to rationally pursue overseas studies, the Service Centre, as the sole government agency of Guangzhou providing comprehensive services for overseas Chinese students, is not only leading in one-stop returning overseas student service system which includes certification for education and qualifications, residence settlement, start-up funds application, etc., but accountable for regulating the local overseas education market by means of organizing annual international education exhibitions tour. The Exhibition 2009, with exhibitors of more than 80 renowned colleges and universities and relevant embassies, education boards from 15 major countries and regions for overseas studies such as the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Japan, Singapore, France, Germany, Malaysia, etc., is by far the international education exhibition of the year with largest number of participation of foreign government agencies and international official education institutions. It could be served as the best opportunity for students and parents to learn the latest policies on studying aboard and returning from overseas, directly communicating with foreign schools and working out their study plans. Highlights of the Exhibition are as follows,

Influx of students and parents seeking consultation service.

  1. Fabulous lectures were held for sharing official information on overseas study policies. As far as the latest official information of overseas study policies is concerned, there were 11 themed lectures hosted by educational foreign government agencies such as British Council Guangzhou, Consulate General of Australia in Guangzhou, Government of Alberta Canada, Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou, covering subjects on overseas study, visa application, scholarships and employment, etc.

   2. A wide variety of prominent schools. The school exhibitors, more than 80 of them, are ranging from high schools to higher education institutes. Top universities with worldwide reputation such as University of British Columbia, Canada and University of Wollongong came to interview excellent local students. Scholarship programmes are provided by some schools. The presence of education institutes in groups from New Zealand and Embassy of Spain, as new exhibitors, helps provide diverse options for overseas studies.

  3. One-stop returning overseas student service. At the Exhibition, the Service Center set up a consultation area where experts explained the thorough services ranging from the go-aboard services such as selecting schools, visa application, residence settlement, to the return-from-overseas service such as  certification for education and qualifications, start-up funds application, job-hunting, start-up etc.

  4. Career testing for guidance on overseas study. The career testing solutions, offered by Southern Human Resource Assess Centre with 14 years of expertise, are authorized, professional, accurate and practical.

  5. Participants of the Exhibition could be able to explore details of studying and living abroad with overseas Chinese students sharing their adventures in the area of Sharing Overseas Study.

The exhibition, as the most trusted official educational events of 2009, featuring distinctive characteristics, high standard and efficiency, is highly appreciated by students and parents. As a government agency and accredited brand name, the Service Centre has been committed to establish a professional platform via which local students could enjoy integrated services for going abroad and returning from overseas studies, and devoted to cultivate globally competitive talents for Guangzhou.

We can see from the Exhibition that there are still huge potentials in the demands for studying overseas, without being much affected by the financial crisis. It might due to the following two reasons. 1. There’s still a lack of fine quality education in mainland China which urges aspiring local students to explore abroad opportunities of further studies. 2. Education is a critical part of the family investment portfolio for which parents has been well preparing.

Feedback from the consultation shows that, with more and more students going abroad after the National Matriculation Test, there are a couple of overseas study programmes appealing to students and parents such as the American community college, conditional acceptance offered by American colleges and universities, the Singapore programme, French top schools foundation programme, etc. The events arranged by the Service Centre in the month of Jul., such as lecture on American community colleges and conditional acceptance on Jul. 04th, English placement test by Singapore Institute of Management, one of the best schools of Sin., in Jul. 05th, interview by DVC, the well-known California-rooted community college, in Jul. 6th and entrance exam by Aachen University of Applied Sciences in Jul. 23rd, is aimed to help students and parents get easy access to enormous international education opportunities.
